Hiding Spots Guide

Hiding Is a Tool, Not a Strategy

In Run from Fast Fredbear, closets and furniture buy time. They do not clear the house for you. Fredbear hears running, sees open lanes, and knows the layout. If you hide after making a loud mess and then spam movement inside the closet, he will still find you. Use this page with Fredbear Behavior, Controls, and Escape Routes so cover supports the escape chain instead of replacing it.

Goal: break line of sight, cut noise, wait for his search to decay, then take one objective — red key, car keys, magnet, lockpick, wrench, or ladder — as taught in How to Escape.

Closets

Closets are the most obvious hides on both floors.

When they work

  • You broke vision before entering
  • You are already quiet (no sprint into the door)
  • He is committed to a different wing after an F bait
  • You need ten to twenty seconds for footsteps to fade

When they fail

  • You sprinted the entire hallway into the closet while he watched
  • You open and shut the door repeatedly (audio spam)
  • You hide in the same upstairs closet every death — he learns your habits
  • Teammates stand outside the closet chatting and drawing him in

Closet discipline: enter once, stop moving, listen, exit toward your next prop — not back into his face. If you need a longer window, bait first with F from a doorway, then hide elsewhere while he runs to the old tile.

Furniture and Soft Cover

Sofas, beds, counters, and large props break sight lines without a door animation. Soft cover is better for micro-pauses: peeking stairs, waiting for a foyer patrol to pass, or lining up a magnet attempt without committing to a closet.

Tips:

  • Crouch your camera behind tall furniture rather than standing in the open "hoping"
  • Do not treat a waist-high table as full cover — vision still clips you
  • Use furniture near stairs to decide whether to climb for the red key or wait
  • After car keys, hug the house exterior edge instead of standing mid-yard

Furniture fails when you keep strafing. Motion at the edge of a vision cone still counts as seen.

Roof and Upper Transitions

Once the wrench unlocks the roof ladder, the vertical space becomes both escape path and risky hide.

  • Do not climb while he is under the shaft — bait him away first (Controls F timing)
  • On the broken roof, stay low and keep moving toward Freddy's room; lingering invites a catch at the golden door
  • Roof "hiding" is mostly about breaking vertical sight, not camping forever
  • If he appears during the endgame approach, drop into a side pocket or reverse briefly, then recommit — the golden door interact needs a clean second

Curious board or switch finds near upper areas are covered on Secrets; do not abandon the wrench chain to hunt easter eggs mid-chase.

Noise Discipline While Hidden

Hiding multiplies silence; it does not create it.

| Action while "hidden" | Result | |-----------------------|--------| | Standing still | Best | | Tiny camera peek | Usually safe | | Walking in place / bumping props | Risky | | Sprinting out immediately | Often fatal | | Throwing an item from inside cover | Loud — only as intentional bait | | Spamming F from inside a closet | He arrives at the closet |

If you must bait from cover, step to a doorway, press F, leave through a second exit, and let a teammate stay hidden — see multiplayer below.

When Hiding Fails (Read This Twice)

  1. He already saw you enter — cover does not erase a committed chase.
  2. You are in a dead-end hide with one door — he camps the exit.
  3. The whole lobby stacked in one closet — six players make noise and block escape.
  4. You hide instead of progressing — every wasted minute is another patrol cycle.
  5. You hide with the wrench uncollected — you cannot ladder from a closet.

If two hides in a row fail, change floors or wings. Repeat the same bedroom closet and you are farming deaths.

Multiplayer: Bait While a Teammate Hides

Sessions support up to six players. Strong pattern:

  1. Bait caller stands in a safe-exit room and presses F.
  2. Hidden specialist stays in a closet or behind furniture near the objective (storage door, box pile, ladder).
  3. When Fredbear commits to the bait tile, the hidden player exits quietly and interacts.
  4. Call out "baiting now" so nobody walks into his sprint line.

Do not stack six bodies on the lockpick boxes. One magnet specialist on height, others holding perimeter or baiting — details in Players and Item Locations.

Solo players simulate this by self-baiting: F from room A, hide briefly in room B if needed, then take the objective in room C.

Hiding Along the Escape Chain

  • Red key — upstairs closet if he climbs; leave as soon as you have the key
  • Car keys — soft cover near the house wall, not mid-driveway
  • Magnet — furniture in utility rooms while he passes
  • Lockpick — usually skip long hides; get height, pull, leave (Item Locations)
  • Storage / wrench — classic bait-then-unlock; hide only if the foyer is hot
  • Ladder / roof — hide or wait until the shaft is clear; then commit

Practice Plan

  1. Two runs where you only practice entering a closet after breaking vision (no items).
  2. Two runs pairing F bait with a furniture pause before stairs.
  3. One co-op run with a dedicated bait caller and a silent storage unlocker.
  4. One full clear using How to Escape with a rule: no sprint into hides.

Hide to reset the hunt. Leave cover to finish the checklist. The golden door does not open from inside a closet.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about Run from Fast Fredbear.

Where are the best hiding spots?

Closets on both floors and solid furniture that breaks sight lines. Roof cover helps during the endgame, but only after the ladder is unlocked.

Why does Fredbear still find me in a closet?

He likely saw or heard you enter, or you made noise inside. Break vision first, stay still, and vary which closet you use.

Should I hide or keep moving?

Hide to break a chase or wait out a patrol. Keep moving when the path is clear — hiding forever never collects the wrench.

Can teammates bait while I hide?

Yes. One player presses F from a safe-exit room while another stays hidden near storage, boxes, or the ladder, then unlocks during the sprint window.

Is hiding enough to beat the game?

No. Hiding buys time. You still need the red key → car keys → magnet → lockpick → wrench → roof chain.

Should the whole lobby hide together?

No. Stacking players in one closet creates noise and blocks exits. Split roles instead.
